Replay of the 'Rally in Raleigh' on Comcast Thanksgiving Night

Nov. 26, 2003

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland football team's thrilling 26-24 win at NC State last weekend will be replayed this Thursday, Thanksgiving night, at 11:00 p.m. ET on Comcast SportsNet. The game, orginally broadcast on ABC, gave the Terrapins their eighth win of the season and propelled them into an invitation to this year's Toyota Gator Bowl.

On another TV-related note, the Ralph Friedgen Show -- originally scheduled for Wed. night at 10:30 p.m. -- will air this Friday at 7:00 p.m.

In the dramatic victory, Nick Novak kicked a 43-yard field goal with 23 seconds left, capping an improbable comeback victory in which Maryland needed 16 points in the final 6:23 to beat the Wolfpack before a regional television audience and clinch at least a tie for second place in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Terrapins trailed 24-10 with 8:45 left in the game after Adam Kiker hit a 32-yard field goal.

But Maryland went quickly down the field, needing just five plays to go 80 yards and set up a 10-yard touchdown pass from Scott McBrien to Jo Jo Walker that pulled the Terps within seven points.

The Terps forced a NC State punt minutes later, then went 78 yards in only six plays to set up a 2-yard scoring scamper by McBrien with 2:29 left. Novak missed the extra-point kick, however, and Maryland still trailed by one point.

On the second play of the Wolfpack's possession, Leroy Ambush forced a fumble by T.A. McLendon and Terp safety Madieu Williams recovered with 1:50 left on the State 46-yard line.

Maryland picked up one first down to set up Novak's game-winning kick.
